About Macaash

Our Story

Macaash International Limited was established in February 2022, rooted in a family's generational bond with livestock. Born from a herd of over 3,000 cattle and a pastoral heritage spanning decades, Macaash is on a mission to transform traditional livestock keeping into a commercially viable, sustainable enterprise.

The Challenge

Kenya's pastoralists face recurring droughts that can wipe out up to 60% of their herds in a single dry season. Macaash was founded to address this vulnerability head-on — building a resilient system that ensures consistent meat supply regardless of rainfall patterns.

The Model

We are transitioning into a hybrid model combining extensive communal grazing with intensive feedlot finishing. With capacity for up to 3,000 cattle at any one time, this dual system enables consistent throughput of up to 500 animals for slaughter every month — serving both local and international markets.

The Vision

Macaash aims to be a vertically integrated beef producer — from farm to abattoir to market. By commercializing the family herd and applying modern production techniques, we are creating a model that other pastoralists across the region can learn from and adopt.

Our Leadership

Ismail Harun Mohamed Yussuf
Ismail Harun Mohamed Yussuf
Director

Ismail leads Macaash's day-to-day operations, having been entrusted to run his family's business interests across education and trading. Raised in the livestock sector, he brings a deep understanding of pastoral life alongside a sharp commercial vision. His ambition is to integrate large-scale livestock operations into a modern, market-oriented enterprise — bridging the gap between tradition and commerce.
